RERP in coordination with Joint Program on Accelerating Progress towards the Economic Empowerment of Rural Women (JP-RWEE) organized GALS ToT event from 2019 August 15th to 21st in Lalgadh of Dhanusha District. Total 16 Social Mentors were selected from Rautahat and Sarlahi women groups including 3 group facilitators for the training. . Further, 5 individuals from IFAD projects together with RERP main service providers HELVETAS were trained during the event.
The ToT objective in specific was to i) build the capacity of participants from first workshop into Social Mentors; ii. to capacitate the RERP team for initiation in RERP districts, ii) to build GALS human resource in Nepal for further replication and iii. to capacitate the staffs from JP-RWEE in order to involve them in monitoring of field activities in the common working area of RERP and JP-RWEE.
During the 7-days event, the participants reviewed the three basic tools Road Vision Journey, Gender Balance Tree and Social Empowerment Map and prepared pictorial manual for their personal use when they return to the community. Fourth tool, Multilane Highway was introduced and practiced in group. The targets set in the Multilane Highway forms the base of field follow-ups in the forthcoming days.
The event was facilitated by both international and national TA Ms Anja Rabezanahary and Tribhuban Poudel in coordination by Targeting GESI Specialist Ms. Kalawati Rai from the RERP project management office.
